Charlotte Bobcats vs. LA Lakers game – Kobe honored and Phil Jackson becomes Lakers winningest coach

on 2010, BlogFebruary 6th

For Christmas 2009 Jennifer got us tickets to the Charlotte Bobcats vs. LA Lakers game and she couldn't have picked a better game!  Even though a few weeks prior I had the chance to see my hometown star LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers win over the LA Clippers at the Staples Center 102-101, little did I know that at the Bobcats vs. Lakers game I would get a chance to witness history in the making!

Before the first home game since his achievement, Kobe Bryant was honored for passing Jerry West's 25,192 career points and becoming the all-time leading scorer for the Los Angeles Lakers.  A few hours later after the win over the Charlotte Bobcats, Phil Jackson passed Pat Riley's achievement of 534 wins and became the coach with the most wins for the LA Lakers.  After watching the highlights of the game I saw that there were also a few celebrities at the Lakers game.

Even though we almost forgot the tickets we still had an amazing time.  I love going to this authentic Italian restaurant by the Staples Center  that seems to always have a table open just for me, La Bella Cucina.  My favorite dish is the Farfalle Gorgonzola – a bowtie pasta with a cream gorgonzola sauce for about $10.
