Facebook Almost Leads Online Marketing Plans For 2011
Marketers prioritize their own websites for online promotions, but Facebook comes in close second, according to a Society of Digital Agencies and AnswerLab survey of more than 600 people in the industry.
The survey included roughly equal numbers of brand marketers, advertising agencies and technology types. All of them indicate that their own corporate website comes first in this year’s marketing budget, followed closely by Facebook. Twitter comes in third, followed by consumer-facing sites and blogs.
Spending on Facebook promotions will increase this year, based on the fact that 80 percent of marketers plan to increase their online projects this year. And 43 percent expect to decrease investments in traditional media during 2011.
None of these findings come as a surprise but instead bolster what many others have said: Online promotions continue to grow, and marketing via Facebook simply rises with the tide.
